QUALIFIER DENT INTO ROUND TWO

Taylor Dent is through to the second round of the San Jose Open in California where he shocked fellow American Alex Bogomolov in straight sets.
The 28-year-old Dent - who once reached No 21 in the world - was on court for 92 minutes in dismissing Bogomolov 6-4 7-6 (7/2).
The big-serving Dent sent down 12 aces to none from his opponent who converted just one of five break points.
Dent, now No 77 in the world and without an ATP Tour title in more than six years, had been forced to go through the qualifying rounds to compete in this hard court event.
Elsewhere, fifth seed Tomas Berdych survived a tough encounter against American Wayne Odesnik winning 6-1 6-7 (5/7) 7-5.
The Czech Republic player needed two and a half hours to progress, with the decisive second set failing to produce a single break of serve.
