DOBRISKEY MISSES OUT ON MEDAL
DobriskeyBritain's Lisa Dobriskey left it too late to make her charge in the 1500m final and just missed out on a medal as Kenya's Nancy Jebet Langat took gold in the Bird's Nest.

Dobriskey got herself trapped on the kerb in the opening laps and struggled to break clear until the closing stages.

She finally made her move in the final 200m but it proved to be too late, as she just failed to catch third placed Ukrainian Nataliya Tobias.

Langat came home in a time of 4 minutes, 0.23 seconds having overtaken Maryam Jamal on the final lap after the Bahrain athlete had tried a breakaway.

Ukraine's Iryna Lyshchynska completed the medals line-up as she took silver but Dobriskey was made to pay for getting her tactics so wrong in waiting to make her move. Jamal eventually crossed the line in fifth before showing her despair as she put her head in her hands.

Langat's compatriot Wilfred Bungei had got Kenya off to a superb start as he claimed gold in the men's 800m. Bungei, having missed out on gold at major championships in the past, opened up a 3m gap to claim the victory with Ismail Ahmed Ismail of Sudan second and Alfred Kirwa Yego third.
